Well its that time of year again where people gather to celebrate Christmas, with family and close friends. As for me I am working........my choice lol. I have been neglectful of my blogs, life sometimes gets in the way! My son is home till Jan 3rd, it sure is good to see him. He goes back as he has a temp job in Nelson, BC. He has applied for another job, and just waiting to hear if he gets it.

Well just a note to update all of you on Adam. He is doing well, enjoying himself, although the first few days were "boring" in his words. He lives in a town of Castlegar, BC about a half hour drive from Nelson, and is sharing accommodations with a friend who is also doing his internship there. I miss him even tho I didn't see him everyday when he was at home, but I knew he was here. I will be going to see him next week and take him stuff he forgot to take with him lol.Will keep all of you updated.

The time has come where my fledgling is leaving home...........it may only be four months for now, however he hasn't left yet and I am missing him already. My son was in school for 3 semesters studying to be a radio announcer, now the time has come for him to do his practicum (internship) after dragging his butt (lol) he has been accepted to do it in Nelson, British Columbia. It is a 12 hour drive from home. Beautiful place (small) but in the heart of the rocky mountains. He leaves next tuesday to start on wednesday. He will need to rent so I am giving up my vacation to help him out financially. I want him to be happy, I wish him the best in his career, I want him to have new experiences it is time for him to grow up. Recently I went and had my cards read.........so far she has been bang on. She told me with out me saying anything that he would go away for his career, I have been trying to prepare for this for a while, however he is my only one and have always been like a mama bear protecting her cub. She also told me that I have always been very protective over him and that is so true. I must let him go with my blessing, but he knows I love him and that the door is always open.

Hi everyone, been busy with work, my second job has been very busy....mostly in town but lots of referrals and teaching I have to get done as well I have a weekly client that I go see......as the saying goes no rest for the wicked. Charlie is well and a brat sometimes, he escaped the yard the other day and decided he wanted to pick a fight with the neighbors Bichon. Never attacked but thought he was a german shepard and ferocious barking.....I think he scared the dog because all you heard was whining from the other dog who happens to be twice as big as 10 lb Charlie. Adam is working for the summer trying to save some money for when he does his practicum and he will be doing it out of town. Don't know where yet but it will mean I will have to travel to see him as he will be gone for 4 months. The weather has been wet and then hot and muggy. I don't do heat well.
Hope everyone is having a good start to their summer, enjoy and go out and make memories.

Never book a room at the travelodge hotels in Canada as they have a no cancellation policy which is not made clear on your confirmation email or prior to booking! Tried to cancel a booking 2 weeks in advance and was told by 4 people from the hotel and the 1888 number that sorry can't be canceled. They charge your credit card and then if they so choose can rebook that room to someone else making double the money.
I have learned my lesson and will never book online again. I will be out my money but a lesson learned I guess. Kinda pissed off but warned them I would be going public with this highway robbery.
My rant for the day, sometimes hate this world of technology!

On my travels today there are lots of signs indicating moose crossing..........I have wanted to get a pic of a moose for a long time today I was traveling east along the highway (43) and I spotted a moose in the trees on the opposite side of the highway so I stopped cranked a uey and parked on the shoulder and of course had my camera with me, with the telephoto lens on and got some shots of this moose, he/she not sure which was looking directly at me. A friend thought it was only 100ft away but from where I was parked was about 4 highway lanes away. So it made my day!

We have had more than 4 days of snow and it is still coming down......now I will post some pics taken from the top of my front step at the snow that from shoveling has reached to high and even my son had trouble throwing the snow up on the mound. The jeep is at street level............steps are three steps up.

I am so tired of this winter........we haven't had this amount of snow in years

For this weather to come to an end. I am going to have to seriously consider moving somewhere warm for the winter. It was -35* Celcius today with the wind chill factored in. Plus it is snowing and just when they did snow removal all morning on my street. First off Charlie decided that waking me up at 7 am was cool and just cause he heard all the graders outside. I had barely opened my eyes and put him out when the door bell started to ring and the city workers asking me to move the vehicles off my street so they could remove the snow. I moved the jeep then tried to move my son's car which was plowed in and a nice neighbour came and helped me get it out and I moved it to a side street. When I went to move his car again I was stuck again, and he needed gas cause it was on E. Again two people were nice enough to help me get it out, the one thing this weather does do is bring out the helping instinct in people, and I am grateful, went to put gas in and when I went to get back in his car noticed blood all over my hand, my finger somehow had a little cut in it and I was bleeding perfusely............then I had to find a place to park his car so I wouldn't get stuck again. The street is clean..........but the snow is coming down again.............I HATE WINTER............did I mention that already lol..........and it is only the middle of January and here in the great white north it could go on till June.
However I guess it could be worse and be flooded like Australia.
Well hope you all go out and make memories or snow angels............I have a six foot pile of snow in my front yard and don't know if I can throw the snow any higher...........lol seeing as I am vertically challenged at 5' 1".

Is rearing his ugly head..............we went from above 32 F to 10 in of snow coming starting from today to sunday and being in the DEEP freeze........I need to go somewhere warm ASAP.......right about now anywhere where it will be above freezing would be my cup of tea.........lol

Well 2010 is almost history, my how time flies, its like yesterday we were just beginning it and now we say goodbye to it.
2010 for a lot of people has been a rough year, deaths, financial problems family issues.........I pray 2011 will bring everyone health, happiness, and prosperity.
2011 will be upon us soon, and that all will bring it in well, and that they will have peace in their hearts. 2011 will bring changes, and it won't all be good, however make the most of it and remember the better parts of it when it to will come to an end.
If you are enjoying the holiday spirits........please don't drink and drive.

As Christmas is fast approaching........and 2010 nears an end.........I am reflecting on the impact people have had on my life...........and all the things that have happened through out this year. My son went back to school in January 2010 and has continued and is doing well, Charlie came into my life at the end of January and is a daily blessing and companion. In May I travelled to Ohio to visit some dear friends and got to meet some friends I had only known on line from Wisconsin and it felt like I had known them forever. As well in May met a wonderful friend of a friend from England. In July I went to Winnipeg to visit family and my Auntie had a stroke in my presence...........she is doing well but will be going to long term care. Charlie and I made some new friends who live on an acerage and Charlie enjoyed the freedom of wide open spaces and he enjoyed his playmates Pickles and Colby. In September my MIL had a stroke and was hospitalized for a couple of weeks, she then proceeded to have another stroke in November and now has to be placed in long term care.
February, March, and April were spent with training Charlie, August was pretty uneventful as was October aside from being busy working.
I consider myself blessed to have all these wonderful people in my life...........my blog sisters from Ohio, Texas Wisconsin and Tenneesee, and Louisiana. The forever friends I have made through out the year, and last but not least my son and my pup. There were also a few people that came in to my life briefly and are no longer in it, but they taught me to enjoy life, take nothing forgranted, make the most of everything because life is too short and anything can happen and I am thankful and blessed for having had them in my life for a short time.
Well enough reminising........before I get all teared up..........I want to wish you all a blessed MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL AND HAPPY NEW YEAR filled with good health, prosperity and nothing but blessings.................LOVE YOU ALL

I would like to wish Linda and Dennis a wonderful 34th wedding anniversary. I had the priviledge of meeting these two wonderful people in May of this year when they came from Wisconsin to Ohio to not only visit Al and Gerri and Judy and Bob but as well they knew I was going to be visiting and they arranged to be there when I was there. Although I had never met them, Linda or as we call her Boots..... that is a story for another time.....lol.....we have been blog and internet sisters for quite a while......from a scrapbooking site to blogging. She absolutely creates beautiful wordart and QP's, Dennis aka farmer McBrown likes all things farming...from raising chickens, lots of dogs...lol, gardening....makes the most awesome maple syrup which I was able to get a jar of .......thanks to Linda who was ready to fight the guy in the airport so he would allow me to take it on the plane. It was like we had always known each other.

So today I wish you a wonderful time spent with family......and may you be blessed with many more years.

This is Colby he is an American Husky, I don't know if any of you remember the cartoon of "Spike" the bulldog and the little chiuahua, and how Spike would strut along and the little dog would bounce around trying to get his attention. Well Colby is Spike and Charlie is like the chiuahua lol. Colby is very tolerant of Charlie. Charlie will go up on his hind legs and paw at Colby trying to get him to play.

He still plays with Pickles but lately she has been PMSing I believe and she is less tolerant of him chasing her lol.

I have taken however, woke up to this. We had the same yesterday, but it all melted, not sure this will not supposed to get above 1 celsius today. For my american friends thats just above 32*F. I am shipping some to each of my friends. Charlie wasn't sure about it yesterday but today he is froliking in it. It is still snowing and it is windy so the snow that accumulated on the roofs is blowing as well.

Fall is here the beautiful colors of the leaves, and yes Miss G the Canadian geese are teaching their young how to fly and getting their strength to fly to Ohio lol, love this time of year.
I have been busy and not doing much else but work. I have gone full time at the hospital for the last 5 years of work to pad my pension. Then retirement woohoo lol. I have now worked one month of full time so I am one month closer to retirement.

This is Charlie and his best bud Pickles, she is a 9 week old kitten, they just have so much fun together, chasing each other, playing hide and seek, usually Pickles hiding and Charlie looking for her and whining, she then sneeks up on him and becomes the "ninja kitty". When Charlie whines he sounds like a chimp so we have nicknamed him "Monkey boy". But he sure enjoys the freedom at my friends acerage.

Well I have heard and seen it all now LOL! Not like Miss Boots doesn't have enough to do, now her dear hubby Farmer McBrown is taking on a new career and wants Boots' help. He has taken on "dog milking". Between the chickens, the acres of tomatoes, zucchini, etc. making maple syrup (which by the way is very tasty, I was given a jar of it when in Ohio) he now is helping out Widget after having her puppies, and they are not feeding enough because they have started eating solids, Farmer McBrown is milking her to give her some relief. You amaze me lol, had never heard of it but the RR caught him in the act and asking Boots to help him!

A mountain sheep, and an Elk with the velvet still on his antlers, grazing at the roadside. What amazes me is that there aren't more people attacked, as there are signs posted everywhere not to get out of your vehicle and its rutting season right now but people get out of their vehicles and approach the wildlife. I safely stay in my vehicle and use a zoom lens if necessary.

This was my front yard the other morning, yes you are seeing right its that white stuff. But none of my friends wanted me to share it with them lol. No it didn't stay but here in Alberta we have a saying if you don't like the weather wait five minutes and it could change. I will be posting some pics I took in the mountains of the snow storms up in the mountain tops, today we had a heat wave lol, but it sure was nice to see the sun which we hadn't seen for almost a week.

Well I went to the mountains on Sunday with friends, although the weather wasn't the greatest, rain and snow with a little sun, it is the best time of year to see and photograph wildlife. I got some good shots of some bears. The top three are the same bear, and the bottom is a mother bear and her cub.

They had all heard of how much a friend Maxine (formerly know as Thelma/Gerri) loves them so they said to say a big "Hello" So hello Maxine from the bears in Jasper Alberta Canada. The top one was like 7 ft away from the Jeep and the bottom ones were further away but I used my zoom lens to take their pics.

Well Maxine didn't believe that chickens namely roosters had balls, so Miss Boots freeze dried some and covered them in chocolate we all had some and they tasted good LOL. Miss Maxine would only try them on the last evening that Miss Boots and Dennis were there visiting, I hear they even had a special name attached to them. So Maxine did they taste good??????????? Well I don't get too many pics of my son and this one I took from FB, he came to me the second evening when I got back from Ohio and said to me "mom did I tell you my marks" I said no, he said he got a 3.0 gpa its (3/3) no mark less than a B-, I said to him see what you can do if you try. He said to me mom I really like this program he is doing radio and TV broadcasting. I am so proud of him as you can all tell! LOL Congrats my baby boy I love you to the moon and back and then some!

Just wanted to say I am home, had a fabulous time spent with friends. I stayed with Gerri and Al, and as always they were very gracious hosts, Gerri and Al have opened up their home to me and made me feel like I am part of their family I spent time with their extended family on Mothers day and never was made to feel like I didn't belong, Nick and Janis and Angela thanks for making me feel so welcome. Love you guys big bunches.
I got to meet another blog sister, Miss Linda and her husband Dennis who came down from Wisconsin, I would have loved to have spent more time with them. Linda known to us as Boots is as funny in person as she is on her blog! As she says although we had never met in person we had met in our hearts. We hit it off like we had known each other for ever.
Judy who although didn't get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked to and I got to see the grand kids,my how they all have grown in two years and Miss Gracie is more adorable in person than in the pictures, we went for lunch the four of us and had a great time.
There were tears shed as we said we would meet again, although we met online at first, we all have been friends for some time now.
Love you ladies big time, thanks for a wonderful holiday and a wonderful time.
Linda and Dennis have a safe trip home and thanks for the maple syrup and thanks Linda for talking to the guy that went through my suitcase and was going to remove it, Gerri and Al thanks again for being such fabulous hosts and opening up your home to all of us.
Well I better stop before I start crying.

Well according to Miss G aka Thelma I needed to make some lo's, lol, so I went to my pics I took when I was in Ohio visiting Miss J and Miss G, this is a pic I took when Judy and Bob took me to Amish country.

If you click on the page it should enlarge and you can notice that all 4 of the horses feet are off the road.

Bkg made by me, pic was duplicated twice, and then all but the horse and buggy was recolored by erasing the black and white copy. I know the amish don't want to have their pic taken but as you will see I only captured the horse and buggy.

You all did such wonderful pages for Valentines day, for me I have been working lots and haven't had much time to do anything else, but know that you are always in my thoughts and heart. To Miss Thelma, Linda, Judy, Miss Scarlett, Mat and last but not least Chris, you all are very dear to my heart and I feel blessed to call you my friends and think of you as my sisters. I have only met two of you in person, Thelma and Miss Judy, but as Linda says I have met the rest of you in my heart.

I read Miss Linda's and Miss Scarlett's ramblings and can't believe we have been blogging for so long. We all kind of started at the same time and we have shared, births, deaths, and milestones reached, as well as some heart break.
And to paraphrase Miss Linda go out and make memories, fill it to the brim.
Oh and finally Miss Linda is making the first year of her blog into a book, we all tell her she needs to write a book, she does weekly ramblings and I think I speak for all that when she is busy and doesnt get a chance to let us all know what is going on we all go into withdrawal.

now u all are asking your self why would Carol go and get herself a puppy with her busy schedule? Well he is already paper trained, I have a network of friends who are eager to puppy sit when I have to go out of town. I also need to start walkiing when the weather gets nicer.

so all meet Charlie, he is a shitzu/pappion cross. His first nite he only whined when he had to go potty

and went right back to sleep after i praised him. In his own bed lol.

It has been awhile since I actually played in photoshop, first my other laptop cratered, then just didn't have time or the desire to do it. I have scrapped some pages but all with QP's made by someone else.

I did this page using some texture papers from Shadowhouse Creations. Miss Linda had used a texture overlay for one of her pages so I had to go and see what it was all about. He has some awesome stuff there. Just click on the name and you will be redirected there.

The pic is one I took last summer of a house I take pics of at least twice a year.

Oh the weather out there is frightful

Well it is bitterly cold out there tonight -38* Celsius which is -36.4* Farhenheit. Not fit for man nor beast. Thank goodness for remote starters for vehicles which are a must have here in the great white north. You can sit in the house and start your vehicle with out having to step out of the house. As well you can set it so it starts every couple of hours so that you dont have to plug the vehicle in another requirement here. I promise I will not send it to you ladies south of the border. But tomorrow nite its supposed to drop down to minus 40 which needs no conversion its the same in Cesius and Farhenheit. Well I better to try and catch some ZZZZZZZZZZZZ's. Have had issues with my other laptop had to purchase a new one. Hoping I didn't lose my photoshop programs, backed everything up and transfered, now just the time to set it all back up.
As my friend from Wisconsin (Linda) always says go and make memories. Enjoy life cause some times it is cut short. But that is a story for another time when I am feeling melencoly.

This morning while at work I received a text message from #1 son. He has been accepted at NAIT (which stands for Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) for the TV and Radio Broadcasting diploma course. He starts January 11/10. He did this without any nagging or pushing from me. He is ready and is tired of doing a heavy labor job. I am so proud of him for not procrastinating on this and got his portfolio in well in advance.

Fall? Well we had snow early although it is all gone now. However we also had lots of wind, our trees really didn't have a chance to change color before they were frozen and then were blown off by the winds.

We have had not half bad weather in the first week of November. No snow which is great, but I so love the changing colors of the leaves so I went into my external hard drive and found some pics from 2 yrs ago that I took and made a page. I was actually looking for the pics that I took last year when I was in the smokey mountains, the colors are so vibrant there, alas they are buried deep in my 1 terabyte EHD one day soon I will find them LOL

Sweet Isabella

This is my best friends great niece, Isabella, we had so much fun while her mom was pregnant with her going shopping for her we sent enough clothes in different sizes to last her till she was five. However in this pic she is wearing her moms blouse. Isabella looks very much like my girlfriends daughter when she was little. When I saw Linda's latest word art I just had to use it to make a page. I applied a layer style to it to match the page. Bkg made using a gradient and applying fibers. I used angel brushes by sigrid (that was the only name with it) and applied a layer style to them as well. The wood frame I made with the same technique as the bkg. I made it look like she is reaching for them.

Down in Cow Town

These past few days I have been teaching a workshop for my second job. I am in our rival city it is always our city vs Calgary lol. The hotel I am staying at is right across from the Calgary tower. So I most times have my camera with me and decided to take some pictures of the tower. Of course I am at ground level and looking up with the camera and even with out, and the clouds moving I get dizzy, so I have to lean up against something or I would probably fall over lol. I wanted to get a close up of the top of the tower as well as to show how high up it is. It is cool and windy here no snow as of yet although they are forcasting snow. I just hope that when I have to head home tomorrow the roads will be okay. It is a 3 and 1/2 hr drive.

Blessed beyond measure

My friend and her son, I am blessed beyond measure to have watched her children grow, and to have her as a friend. I used a textured overlay action from actionfx. I used a pic I had taken last year and used the action to make overlays and blended them together and used two layers of the pic to blend into the bkg. the WA is from Linda her blinkie for the WA is on the right Random thoughts by Linda. I added a layer style to it.

I have taken pics of this old abandoned house before, but this is from this year. I used papers from Irene Alexeeva recolored and used a ladder and stone from another kit I downloaded via digifree, but don't remember the designer floral cluster from Raspberry roads. We had snow here for the past week but it started melting today and it is supposed to be quite nice tomorrow. I hate winter more than I hate the heat lol.
